Good Friday: Sacrifice is Not Selective

It’s been a rough week. Stress, lack of sleep, worry and uncertainty have all played their part this week…but then I read this:

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.”-Psalm 28:7

Though I may not have the strength to wake up every morning, He does.

Though I may lose confidence in myself and feel lost, He is confident and holds my hand.

Though I may feel anxious and want control at all times, He is peace and all-knowing.

For this, I am thankful.

Today is Good Friday, and for me there is great truth in this day.

Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was not just for me. It was not just for Christians or church affiliates. He didn’t die for one political party or the other. He didn’t forgive only those of one gender or orientation. He didn’t suffer just for the righteous.

He sees us all equal, all of us worthy to receive his grace, mercy and love. This truth makes me feel alive! It makes me feel joyous! I want to shout this truth for those who are weary, those who are lost, those who think they are too broken or unworthy…your life is a precious treasure and God has a plan for you! Don’t give up hope, because although Christ was mocked, tortured, and suffered much for us, He overcame it all and He is ALIVE.

Have a listen to this song by Kim Walker this weekend. Listen to the truth she sings and let it fill your heart with joy this Easter.
